Great Big Events ready to put on a show for Glasgow 2014 spectators and athletes

Glasgow 2014 has today (Friday 31 May) appointed Great Big Events (GBE) to deliver Sports Presentation for the Commonwealth Games ranging from providing in-stadia entertainment and information to the stage managing of medal ceremonies.

Working with the Sport Operations Team, GBE will educate and keep absorbed the anticipated packed crowds at Glasgow 2014’s 17 sports at every Games venue providing an atmosphere that inspires audiences and ensures the best environment for competing athletes to thrive in.

To get those attending involved and immersed in the action this will include sport announcements, commentary, video board content, in-venue music, agreed lighting and fun entertainment packages featuring Clyde, the Glasgow 2014 Official Mascot.

GBE will also stage manage the medal ceremonies at each competition venue, 261 in total, including the coordination of flags and anthems in line with agreed protocol.

As a supplier, GBE will be responsible for implementing agreed creative themes and delivering a positive Games experience within each competition venue.

Glasgow 2014 will be GBE’s fourth consecutive Commonwealth Games having delivered Sports Presentation for Manchester 2002, Melbourne 2006 and Delhi 2010 and they have an outstanding reputation within sport.

They have broader experience across major multisport events including the past four Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as the 2006 Doha Asian Games and 2010 Singapore Youth Olympics.

Glasgow 2014 Head of Sport, Greg Warnecke, said:

"Importantly, GBE have been able to demonstrate a great understanding of all 17 Glasgow 2014 sports which will ensure that Glasgow 2014 will be able to deliver an outstanding Sport Presentation experience for everyone within each competition venue."
