Une révolution, rien de moins. Un séisme. Une onde de choc. Un quart de siècle après l’arrêt Bosman, l’Europe de football se prépare à basculer dans une autre époque. Dimanche 18 avril, douze des plus grands clubs du continent ont annoncé la création prochaine d’une nouvelle compétition, la Super Ligue européenne. Elle pourrait, en cas de concrétisation du projet, affaiblir l’actuelle Ligue des Champions, voire conduire à sa disparition.
Le projet
La Super Ligue européenne se présente comme une alternative à une Ligue des Champions présentée par ses dissidents comme à bout de souffle et en fin de parcours. La nouvelle compétition se fixe l’objectif de réunir 20 équipes. Quinze d’entre elles, les membres fondateurs – les douze clubs à l’origine du projet, plus trois autres à trouver (le Bayern Munich et le Borussia Dortmund en Allemagne, Paris Saint-Germain en France, sont clairement visés) – seraient accompagnées par cinq autres équipes, qualifiées au début de chaque saison selon des modalités encore à définir. Une ligue partiellement fermée, donc, mais pas complètement.
