(ATR) The International University Sports Federation (FISU) is reviewing bids from more than 30 countries to host an event in the 2018 World University Championships.

The WUC is hosted every even-numbered year by FISU, alternating with the Summer and Winter Universiades. The WUC differs from Universiade in that the WUC is a series of 41 one-off championships instead of a multi-sport games.

An evaluation commission for FISU is considering bids from four continents while in Brussels until Oct. 30. The commission consisting of technical delegates for each sport will send their recommendations to the executive board of FISU following the four-day evaluation.

"The World University Championships demonstrate once again the interest of the FISU Member Associations when it comes to the organisation of events for the best student-athletes in the World," FISU said in a statement.

Cities interested in hosting one of the 41 events are now nearing the end of a one-year bidding process. The FISU executive board will announce the hosts of the 41 events on December 1, 2015.
