Coca-Cola unveils pin of the day for day 11 of the London 2012 Olympic Games!

Coca-Cola, the longest, continuous sponsor of the Games, is today releasing the official pin badge for day eleven of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Description:

Today’s pin features a spinning Coca-Cola bottle and a recycling symbol, to represent Coca-Cola’s commitment to helping LOCOG deliver the most sustainable Games possible.

It is one of 182 pins to be released by Coca-Cola for the London 2012 Olympic Games. Information on pin designs that have been announced can be found below. Only a limited number of Coca-Cola’s ‘pin of the day’ pin badges have been produced, and collectors traditionally queue from the early hours ahead of each reveal.

All of Coca-Cola’s pin badges for London 2012, including each ‘pin of the day’ have been created by two inspirational young designers from Brighton and Hartlepool, continuing the company’s commitment in using its sponsorship of London 2012 to celebrate and shine a light on the best of British youth – its Future Flames

‘Pin of the day’ pin badges have been designed to fit together like a jigsaw puzzle to form the shape of the iconic Coca-Cola contour bottle.

Individual ‘pin of the day’ pin badges are only available to buy and swap at Coca-Cola’s two official pin trading centres located on the Olympic Park and at London’s Hyde Park. Collectors can pre-order a full commemorative set of ‘pin of the Day’ pins online at www.cokestore2012.co.uk, which comes with an exclusive ‘bottle cap’ pin only available as part of this set.

All profits made by Coca-Cola through the sale of its licensed merchandise, including pin badges, will be given to Coca-Cola’s charity partner StreetGames to help bring sport to 110,000 young people in some of the most deprived communities in the UK.

Background:

Pin trading, or the art of buying and swapping official metal lapel badges produced to commemorate the Olympic and Paralympic Games, is expected to take the UK by storm this summer. Often referred to as the unofficial spectator sport of the Games, it will give everyone a chance to participate in the magic of London 2012.

Coca-Cola has been at the heart of pin trading since 1988, and has unveiled a range of 182 exclusive Olympic and Paralympic Games pin badges for London 2012. Many celebrate typically British traits and traditions including Routemaster buses, butlers, bulldogs and umbrellas.

The Official Coca-Cola Olympic Games Pin Trading Centres have been present at every Games since Calgary 1988 Olympic Winter Games, and are places where people can come together to share and celebrate the spirit of the Games, as well as add to their treasured pin collections.

At the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Coca-Cola will host two Pin Trading Centres – one on the Olympic Park, and one in Hyde Park. Tens of thousands of people are expected to trade pins at the Pin Trading Centres this summer.

A ‘Pin of the Day’ limited edition pin is released each day of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to commemorate a special event linked to London 2012. These pins have been designed to fit together like a jigsaw puzzle to form the shape of the iconic Coca-Cola Contour Bottle when collected and displayed together.
