26 July 2010. Following the success of last year’s inaugural Asian Amateur Championship in China, the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) has retained brandRapport, one of Asia’s premier sports marketing specialists, to manage international media and PR services for the event. brandRapport has also been tasked with developing a local promotional campaign to drive attendance at Asia’s leading amateur golf tournament, which this year will be held in Japan.
Colin Phillips, Honorary Secretary of the APGC commented:
"brandRapport illustrated their expertise, value and professionalism at last year’s championship and we are very happy that they are on board again this year. Their knowledge of the media and PR landscape in the region, experience with golf tournaments in Japan, and understanding of the event made them the sound choice for the role."
The 2010 Asian Amateur Championship will be played October 7-10 at Kasumigaseki Country Club on the outskirts of Tokyo. Featuring the top amateur golfers from the 34 member nations of the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), the tournament is supported by The R&A and the Masters.
Dan Parr, Associate Director at brandRapport is understandably thrilled to be working on an event already on its way to tremendous heights:
"The Asian Amateur Championship plays a pivotal role in the development of the game throughout Asia Pacific. With the winner securing a start at the Masters and a spot in final qualifying for the Open Championship, this tournament is without doubt the most important amateur golf event in the region. We’re looking forward to continuing a successful partnership and playing our part in further building the reputation of the Asian Amateur Championship."
Parr continued:
"brandRapport’s parent company Qobliq has recently finalised the acquisition of Fulford PR, Singapore’s leading sports and consumer PR firm. Fulford’s addition to our group gives us even more strength across the region, strength which will help us deliver even better results for our all clients, including the APGC"
