In a new initiative aimed at promoting the Qatar Olympic Academy (QOA), and to enable it to play a role in forming specialized personal in sport management at a professional level in Qatar as well as in the Middle East and the Arab world, an agreement was signed on Thursday 8 May 2014 in Al Wajba Hall at the QOC building between the Qatar Olympic Committee represented by the QOA and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs .The agreement is about organizing a Masters Course in Sport Management.
The agreement was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Saoud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, QOC Secretary General, President of the Qatar Olympic Academy, and by Professor Eric Olsson, Curriculum Director and Consultant at the University of Colorddao at Colorado Springs, accompanied by a high level delegation representing the American university.
The new initiative aims to achieve the QOA ambition and objectives set since it started in 2008. The Academy works at developing various programs in Sport Management including basic and advanced levels, with the possibility for the candidates to crown their efforts by attending a Sport Management Masters Diploma. A special sport management curriculum is to be developed and will be designed to meet the region requirements and its aspirations.
The QOA has put together a series of courses and programs for the administrative management leaders to help them move from an amateur to a professional and specialized level. It will target attracting young Qatari and Arab talents willing to complete their university Education and enable them to play an efficient role in the sport community by promoting theirmanagement knowledge and skills. The Master degree will be recognized by many international universities as well as in Qatar.
The Qatar Olympic Academy aims at becoming an Education and knowledge hub in the local and regional levels.
The Academy will provide a top-level education and training in the frame of its promotional role for the Olympic movement in Qatar and in the Arab world.
The QOA is one of the most important projects that the Qatar Olympic Committee puts on top of its priorities.
