(ATR) SportAccord opened registration this week for its first regional event and the first with a particular focus on Pan America.

Regional SportAccord Pan America 2019 is billed as the only networking and conference event to bring the Pan American, and the Olympic and non-Olympic community together in one location.

The event will be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from December 10-12. Click here to register.

"The purpose and value of the event lies in giving international sports federations the opportunity to exchange views and ideas with sport entities and businesses in the Pan American region supported by continental unions and national federations," Nis Hatt, Managing Director of SportAccord said in a statement.

"Regional SportAccord is the perfect platform for enabling this to happen in a constructive and beneficial way for the region and across the sports movement and we look forward to welcoming the sports community to Fort Lauderdale."

The three-day event, which expects to bring together 500 attendees from around 400 organizations, follows in the footsteps of the annual SportAccord convention, which this year will be May 5-10 in Gold Coast, Australia.

The inaugural SportAccord Pan America will be followed on December 13 by the debut of the Panam Sports Gala, which will recognize top athletes from the 2019 Pan American Games and Parapan Games in Lima.

The gala is part of Panam Sports President Neven Ilic’s efforts at "reengineering" the continental association representing 41 NOCs in the Americas.
