This Tuesday Mario Escobar, Debanhi's father, reported that two videos that could have captured Debanhi minutes after walking to the facilities of the transport company he entered are missing. He also reported that so far Alcosa Transportes Internacionales has not released the reasons why both recordings captured by its security cameras are lost.
During a press conference, Escobar said: “The company Alcosa has not justified that a few minutes of video, which are very important after my daughter walked to the company to ask for help, magically disappeared, two videos that are facing each other. They have eight cameras.”
The company became a key player in the investigation of Debanhi's case after videos of a hotel were revealed, in which it was recorded that the young woman entered the freight forwarding company to allegedly seek help. In the footage, the law student is seen crossing the other side of the Monterrey-Laredo highway after getting off the taxi she was traveling in, after which she walked 20 meters to reach the Alcosa building, from which she was not caught leaving.
The site was searched by elements sent by the Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of the state of Nuevo León, however during the inspection no evidence of Debanhi was found. Yesterday, the 18-year-old girl was found lifeless in a cistern at the Nueva Castilla Motel, which is why her father considers that all the videos of the transports are vital evidence to clarify whether your daughter arrived willingly to the place where she was found.
In addition, Mario Escobar said that the FGJ has not sufficiently investigated the role of Juan David Cuéllar, driver of the vehicle in which Debanhi was traveling, in the case. The young woman's father suspects that the driver might be responsible for the death of his daughter, as a video recently came out showing how he extends his hand to Debanhi's breasts, so he is sure that the 18-year-old got out of the taxi for harassment.
Regarding the harassment of which his daughter was the victim, Escobar said: “I publicly accuse Juan David Cuellar of detonating this, because that triggered my daughter getting out of the taxi, which should not have gotten off because it was a rental taxi.” He explained that he had access to the video showing the driver harassing Debanhi just two days ago, due to the hermetic manner with which the FGJ carried out the investigation.
It is worth mentioning that before having access to the recording showing part of the interaction between Debanhi and the driver, the young woman's father had already stated that he intends to request an audience with Juan David, so that he can make the appropriate statements and the authorities can detect possible contradictions in the to declare.
Previously, Debanhi's friends were also part of the witnesses called to testify, because they were with her at the party she attended before disappearing. In an interview with Mafian TV, Mario Escobar expressed his desire to talk to them again, even though they left her in the middle of the street. So far he only knows his version of events through the statements they gave to the Prosecutor's Office.
