The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) announced that it will provide consular assistance to the families of three Mexicans from the state of Oaxaca who were murdered in the United States.
The first is Feliciano Martínez Perea, an 18-year-old who was murdered in Watsonville, California.
The crime against Feliciano took place on April 2, when he was on his way home, he was approached by two armed men who opened fire on him. The young man was from the state of Oaxaca, as verified by the Consulate General of Mexico in San José.
The attackers were detained by the Watsonville Police Department, who reported that they were brought before a Santa Cruz County judge. The alleged attackers were arrested ten days later and were identified as Erick Deharo and Matthew Madriz, who were presented before the judge, however, the hearing was postponed to take place at the end of the month.
According to the statement, the authorities of the Consulate immediately met with the police authorities to demand an investigation into the facts that could establish responsibility.
For this reason, the consulate intervened with the Santa Cruz County Office of Victim Care to ensure that the victim's family received the support established by law.
In turn, they indicated that they have assisted the relatives in the process of transferring the body of the young Mixtec, which will arrive in the national territory next Saturday, April 23, in coordination with the Oaxacan Institute for Migrant Care.
On the other hand, there are Mexicans Alexis and William Cisneros Acevedo, 27 and 26 years old respectively, from the Collantes community, who were gunned down in Stockton, California.
Faced with this case, the Oaxacan Institute for Migrant Care (IAOM), on April 17, issued a statement shared on its social networks condemning what happened and urged the authorities to continue investigations.
SRE presented its support through the Mexican Consulate General in Sacramento for the families of Mexicans, along with two other men aged 29 and 32 who were injured during the attack on the brothers in Stockton.
For the latter, they were provided with legal advice other than access to health services through visits to hospitals and access to state programs and resources for families of fatalities. As well as provision for legal advisory services for immigration relief and receipt of identity and nationality documents.
They also urged Stockton County authorities, according to the statement, to conduct an expeditious, impartial and thorough investigation. Finally, he acknowledged the availability of the San Joaquin County authorities for the repatriation of the remains of the Cisneros Acevedo brothers to their place of origin.
And they pledged to collaborate with the state authorities so that the causes that led to the aggression, which were apparently isolated and randomly according to the investigations, are addressed to avoid new cases like this.
