Universitario de Deportes is not having a good time after being defeated by Alianza Lima in the Peruvian football classic 2022. This Wednesday morning, barristas went to the practice of the 'creams' in Campo Mar and demanded the players for the attitude and the bulky result at home. Everything got out of control and footballers ended up being assaulted.
According to RPP Noticias, the squad already knew about the arrival of the fans in Lurín and even arrived minutes early to talk to them. In the middle of the discussion there were insults and verbal confrontations, with Nelinho Quina being the main one involved in this. However, those who ended up physically injured were Uruguayans Hernán Novick and Federico Alonso.
It is not known the exact number of barristas who went to claim the 'meringues', but the weather in the team is dense after this inconvenience. The version of the athletes is not yet available, although they are likely to speak in the next few hours.
Let us remember that now the interim manager is Jorge Araujo, until the administration decides the new strategist. There is a possibility that 'Coco' will stay the rest of the season, but this will surely depend on the results. The next 'U' match will be this Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (Peruvian time) against Sport Boys in Ate.
ÁLVARO GUTIÉRREZ FREE OF CHARGE AFTER THE CLASSIC
As most understood, the main culprit of the bad timing of Universitario de Deportes was Uruguayan Alvaro Gutiérrez. After the defeat in the classic, the temporary administration, with Jean Ferrari at the head, decided to reach an agreement with the strategist to stop being technician of the 'creams'. Both parties agreed and ended the contract.
The coach 'charrua' left the team with 16 points in the standings, five behind the leaders Cienciano del Cusco and Sport Huancayo. The 'merengues' had five wins, a draw and four losses so far. In addition, at the start of the season they were eliminated in the second qualifying phase of the Copa Libertadores against Barcelona from Ecuador.
ARLEY RODRIGUEZ TALKED ABOUT THE CLASSIC
Colombian Arley Rodríguez, author of the third goal in the classic played at the Monumental stadium, spoke about the match against Universitario and revealed that some players from the 'creams' were afraid because of the number of people in the colossus of Ate. He felt that this influenced his game, which ended with the rout in favor of the 'intimates'. Jairo Concha and Hernán Barcos were in charge of scoring the other goals.
“When the match stopped, I talked to one of them and he told me that he was angry because everything they had in mind was turned over to them. There were 2 or 3 players of them who were afraid to try for fear of being wrong, what the public would say. From there they started badly. The public can play you against or for you. When we scored 2 quick goals the stadium was not encouraging the same. There was a total despair of the public and that was passed to the countryside. Their faces were feeling anguish. We felt it and played with it. We enjoyed it and had fun,” said the footballer 'whiquiazul' in an interview for DirecTV Sports Peru.
