Violent day in Sonora linked to Los Salazar: two hung and seven gunshot wounds

One of those executed was “El Pelón”, an alleged operator of Los Salazar and who suffered an execution attempt in 2019

This Sunday, April 17, two different events sowed terror in the town of southern Sonora, as two bodies were hung on a bridge in Empalme, including a member of Los Salazar; in addition to the fact that seven subjects were victims of an armed attack.

The Attorney General's Office of the State of Sonora (FGE) reported the violent events through its social networks, since it announced that the first of the incidents occurred around midnight on Sunday:

“Members of the #MesaEstatalDeSeguridad attended #CódigoRojo for the discovery of two dead bodies, at 00:25 hours this Sunday, April 17, in complete suspension in #Empalme, Bridge of the International Highway Bypass,” reported the Prosecutor's Office.

Staff of the unit moved to the scene to carry out the investigations into the case, and they were able to locate an alleged drug message.

“Staff of the #FiscalíaDeSonora processed the place, so far the identity of the two males is being investigated, in the area various indications were collected, among which is a poster with a letter addressed to a criminal group,” the statement read.

In the same way and hours later, the agency announced that one of the fatalities who were hung from the bridge is José de Jesús Luna, El Pelón Luna, a member of Los Salazar, a criminal organization linked to the Sinaloa Cartel and which operates in the state of Sonora.

Pelón Luna had already suffered an attack against him in September 2019, as a group of hit men entered his home to deprive him of his liberty and try to execute him, resulting in serious injuries to four of his relatives, who suffered severe burns.

That day, the assailants entered violently and dragged José de Jesús Luna, alias El Pelón Luna. Later, the assailants returned to the residence and set fire to him with Molotov bombs, trapping two children and two adults.

After the crime, local residents reported a fire to emergency number 911, so elements of the Fire Department rescued people from the burning house, but unfortunately both minors were injured in 90% of their bodies, while adults were injured in 60% of the body.

The second incident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the municipality of Cajeme, near the place where seven subjects were attacked, as reported by the Sonoran Prosecutor's Office in a statement:

The Salazars have been identified as a criminal cell in the service of the Sinaloa Cartel, who would be engaged in the planting and production of drugs, in addition to the distribution and sale of narcotics in the entity.

The first leader of the criminal organization was identified by US authorities as Adán Salazar Zamorano, Don Adán, who was one of the operators and lieutenants of Joaquin, El Chapo, Guzman.

The criminal activities of Don Adán, his son, Jesús Alfredo, El Muñeco, and his brother Adán, El Indio, Salazar, have forced the forced displacement of around 1,200 people in the municipality of Sonoyta, Sonoyta, in addition to about 300 families in Las Chinacas.
