Karla Tarazona was one of the Peruvians affected by the strike of air traffic controllers. The host of D' Mañana told her colleagues from the Panamericana TV program that she was inside the plane with her husband, waiting for him to fly for more than two hours. However, the wait was in vain.
As you remember, the couple planned the trip for a long time, a flight in Punta Cana without children, where they would enjoy a new honeymoon. However, far from everything being happiness, they spent moments of anguish at the thought that they would miss their flight.
Through videos, Karla informed D'Mañana what had to happen, saying that there was a lot of anxiety among the passengers, since there were children on board, logically bored by the wait. The flight was supposed to leave at 8:55 a.m. and it was 10:36 a.m. and they were still stranded at the airport, inside the plane.
For their part, Metiche and Adriana Quevedo expressed their concern for their colleagues and others who were on the aircraft. At 10:47 in the morning, Karla sent another video announced that the strike had been lifted and they were about to take off.
As space drivers commented, this was no more than a scare, however, there are many citizens who did not suffer the same fate, since several flights were canceled due to this stoppage and will have to be rescheduled in the following hours.
It should be noted that the strike began at 7 in the morning of this April 14. After hours of distress, the Unified Union of Air Traffic Controllers of Peru (SUCTA) and Corpac officials reached an agreement to to end the strike that ended up harming hundreds of passengers.
FLIGHTS ARE RESCHEDULED
Jorge Perlacios Velásquez, Chairman of Corpac's Board of Directors, indicated that all cancelled flights will be rescheduled in the coming hours.
“We had a meeting with the union leaders to agree on one last point. Since we received their demands, two weeks ago, we have been implementing their requirements, which were basically economic matters,” he said.
He said that the requests of the air traffic controllers union had to do with an arbitration award, the payment of one more day's work, mobility and improvement of rest stays. In addition, he noted that all these issues had already been resolved, but that there was a pending issue linked to management on which they had not agreed and that caused the stoppage.
He also clarified that the Ministry of Labour had authorized the strike, but that since transport was an essential service, flights were expected not to be affected. However, there were problems at several airports in the country that prevented planes that were in mid-flight from landing and from having to return to Jorge Chavez airport.
