RIGHTS OF AIR TRANSPORT USERS

Here are the rights of the passenger and some recommendations that you should keep in mind if you are traveling by air transport.

1. When the flight is cancelled or delayed due to the airline's responsibility, the airline must tell you the causes and what they will do to fix it. In addition, depending on how long has elapsed, you have the right to:

- A snack and a phone call if the delay is longer than 2 hours and less than 4 hours.

- A snack, a phone call and lunch or dinner, depending on the time, if the delay is longer than 4 hours and less than 6 hours.

- A snack, a phone call, lunch or dinner, depending on the time, compensation equivalent to 25% of the missed segment (can be returned via kilometers or miles, coupons or credit notes) and must cover the costs of lodging and transfers to and from the airport. This will be fulfilled as long as the delay is longer than 6 hours.

- If you need to stay overnight due to flight cancellation, the airline must refund the net value of the ticket or get a replacement flight for the same day. If this does not happen, they have to cover food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, depending on the time), lodging and transportation costs.

Important: If there were delays prior to cancellation, affected travelers are entitled to receive the compensation mentioned in points 1, 2, 3, as the case may be.

RECOMMENDATIONS

- Check if your ticket allows you to change the date or destination of your trip without fines or fare differences, as well as the date within which you can make the change.

- Reschedule your flight. This is one of the options you have, if the terms and conditions of your ticket allow it. Go to the airline counter and explain to the person in charge so that you can explain what happened so they can reach an agreement and find the best solution.

- Check the situation of your baggage. It is important that you follow this part of the process so that you prevent your belongings from being lost or retained.

- If the flight you missed was on the night shift, the best option you should take is to find a place to stay. You can ask to have one recommended, as some establishments only charge you by the hour.

- Passengers in the national air transport service over 12 years old will only be able to board if they prove their full dose of vaccination in Peru or abroad. If they are over 18 years old, include the booster dose.

- If the traveler does not have their complete vaccination schedule, they must present a negative molecular test with a result date no more than 48 hours before boarding.

- You must complete the Affidavit of Health and Geolocation Authorization within 72 hours before your trip. This is a mandatory requirement for you to be authorized to enter the aircraft.
