The State of Mexico began the week with violent events. A family was attacked by an armed group during the early hours of Monday, April 11 in the municipality of Tultepec, leaving eight people dead.
According to local reports, the execution was reported inside a house located in Cerrada Mazahuas, La Cañada neighborhood. So far, the causes of the murders have not been disclosed.
Preliminary reports indicated that among the deceased persons were three minors: two girls (approximately 3 and 12 years old) and one boy (4 years old); as well as three women (20, 23 and 33 years old) and one man (20 years old). Meanwhile, a woman managed to survive the attack and was taken to Vicente Villada hospital; she was reported in a delicate condition. However, moments later his death was announced.
Residents of the area told local media that they did notice the detonations of firearms, although at first they thought they were fireworks. Fearing that they would be attacked, they sheltered in their homes and did not go out into the streets. Later, they notified the Edomex authorities to come to the scene.
Upon arriving at the La Cañada colony, the Mexican authorities found the seven bodies with the shot de grace. Meanwhile, the expert services proceeded to lift the bodies and then transferred them to the General Coordination of Expert Services to apply the corresponding necropsy of law.
The property was secured by personnel of the Attorney General's Office of Justice (FGJ) of the State of Mexico, while a patrol from the municipality of Tultepec is guarding the exterior of the building, in which at least three firearms hit the gate (the caliber is still unknown).
For its part, the Edomex Prosecutor's Office reported that it opened an investigation folder on this multi-homicide and thus clarify the facts that arose. The number of victims was verified and the death of the 8 members of the family was verified.
So far, the governor of the State of Mexico, Alfredo del Mazo, as well as the municipal president of Tultepec, Ramón Sergio Luna Cortes, have not commented on this matter.
The State of Mexico is one of the states with the highest levels of crime incidence. According to the Executive Secretariat of the State Public Security System, so far in 2022, 62,129 crimes of various kinds have been registered in this state.
The most commonly committed crimes in Edomex are thefts, with 10,882 reported during the first quarter of the year. As for the number of homicides, 274 were recorded in February alone, 29 fewer than what was reported in 2021.
One of the most recent cases was reported on April 2, when the teenager Hugo Carbajal was killed in the municipality of Jilotzingo after going to a clandestine party in the Imperio event hall. As a result, the Northern Peripheral was blocked to demand the arrest of the person responsible.
On April 7, Mauricio “N” was linked to prosecution for the alleged qualified homicide against the 15-year-old.
