The first round match of the junior tournament in the city of Accra (Ghana) organized by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) became the scene of a reprehensible episode featuring a 15-year-old tennis player.

The teenager in question is Michael Kouame, one of the young promises of French tennis and who was a candidate to win the circuit. The Gaul, however, fell in front of local Raphael Nii Ankrah, who was the victim of a brutal slap in the face at the end of the match.

The images went viral and swept the world quickly. In them, Kouame could be seen beating his rival after being eliminated from the competition.

The number 606 in the ITF junior ranking lost in three sets (6-2, 6-7 and 7-6) and could not stand being defeated. That was evident when he went to the network about the end to make the typical protocol greeting with his colleague. Once in it, he supported the racket and waited for the Ghanaian.

Confident, Ankrah stretched out his hand and when he did, Kouame held it and with the other slapped him in the face that surprised the entire compound. Stunned by what had happened, it was the relatives of the beaten tennis player who jumped onto the stage to rebuke the Frenchman. Fortunately, the security personnel managed to contain the situation.

According to the French media outlet RMC Sport, the young promise of France hails from the commune of Sarcelles, almost an hour from Paris, and is part of the All-In Academy, a high-level training and training venue in Lyon that belongs to former world number 5, Jo-Wifried Tsonga.

The video quickly went viral and aroused different reactions. On the one hand, that of users asking for severe measures to be taken and on the other that of some joking and comparing the episode with what was recently experienced at the Oscars gala with Will Smith and Chris Rock.

“Bad loser attitude. They should sanction him by taking him out of the ranking where he is, minimally”, considered one. “Roger Federer did the 'great willy' and he does the 'great will smith',” another mocked.

So far the International Tennis Federation (ITF) has not publicly commented on the incident, although it is estimated that the young French tennis player could be severely punished.

Raphael Nii Ankrah, who qualified for the round of 16 of the tournament played in his country, is currently ranked 1708th in the world among youth players.
