
The young Salome Cortes became a new pride for Colombia when she was crowned champion of the Michelin International MTB Cup held in Petrópolis, Brazil.
According to information released by the Municipal Mayor's Office, the mountain biker from Tocancipa competed in the junior category against runners from Brazil, Argentina, among other Latin American countries, standing out as the best in this discipline.

According to the Mayor's Office, the track presented some difficulties due to the rain before the competition and the humidity level that the tropical zone presents (840 masl); however, these conditions were not an impediment to the victory in the Olympic Cross Country event of the Michelin International Cup of MTB.
The mayor of Tocancipá, Andrés Porras, celebrated this triumph that comes out of his municipality and that leaves the country's name high.

In turn, Mr. Diego Camelo Monroy, general director of the Municipal Institute of Recreation and Sports of Tocancipá, expressed his greatest pride and congratulated Salome and his coach Juan Carlos Cortés for their excellence and dedication.

Now Salome is preparing to represent Colombia at the World Cup to take place on this same track on Saturday, April 9.
The municipality of Tocancipá, in the Central Savannah of Cundinamarca, has been consolidating itself as one of the most powerful regions in sports in the country. In fact, at the end of the previous year he won 114 medals in recent appearances in national and departmental competitions at that time.

At the time, Mayor Porras said that it is with complete satisfaction that from “the Municipal Administration we were able to support different sports training schools so that they would represent us in different competitions, obtaining very good results”.
“Congratulations to the young people of Tocancipeños and we want to reiterate our commitment to continue supporting all the athletes who are part of these schools, this with the purpose of offering a real opportunity for life such as sport,” he said.
