While presidential candidates are campaigning, their supporters are advancing initiatives in different parts of the country to boost and capture votes. Federico Gutiérrez, the candidate for the Presidency for the Colombian Team, who has positioned himself, according to the latest polls, among the favorites of potential voters, is advancing a tour of several areas of the country, where, he says, has received the support of his electorate.

This April 3, a video of a follower of the center-right candidate has created controversy, because he is heard pushing what some have called a “self-defense plan” to protect the capital of Valle del Cauca on election day, “whoever wins”.

We must be ready and prepared to defend the vital points of the aqueducts, the air base, the third brigade, the police post”, notes, with a foreign accent, a man wearing the campaign shirt of the Team's candidate for Colombia. The character continues to ensure that security will be reinforced with drones, to monitor the most important areas of the city, mobile equipment and other tools: “Please count on you, because you are already standing weapons for whatever”, concludes the man in the images, distributed on networks.

The video, which lasts about a minute and shows that the man's proposal is supported by several people who are at the event, who applaud as a sign of approval of the initiative, created multiple comments on networks.

For example, Senator Alexander López, who is supporting the candidacy of the Historical Pact, expressed his concern about this message and asked the authorities to investigate the facts.

“Thus, without shame, paramilitarism is articulated in Cali. The constitution prohibits such practices, the authorities must establish measures to mitigate this risk that is on notice. Is this type of activity identified with @FicoGutierrez? ”, he wrote on his social networks.

In the same vein, candidate Gustavo Petro spoke and asked for an explanation to Uribism of this type of call: “The Uribist campaign should explain this video that shows an apparent foreigner organizing a paramilitary plan in Cali.”

Faced with the controversy that has arisen over this event and the call that worries citizens, because another paramilitary group could be created in the Valley, Federico Gutiérrez spoke out and clarified that space was not promoted by his campaign team and called for peace to prevail.

“No incitement to violence or anything like it is endorsed by me or by my campaign. To the people who are joining all over the country, all my gratitude. Of course, I ask you to continue working in peace, and with respect for the rules and for the people”, triune the presidential candidate.

In addition to the candidate's explanations, it was added that people in attendance clarified that what the subject said was in their own name and not the campaign: “It was a free space where many people attended and each person who took would speak in their own way what the person I do not know said did it under their responsibility, it has nothing to do with the end of meeting, he expressed himself freely and so it remained, it is not any plan that we are executing, our only plan is to add more votes to the Fico campaign.”
