These are the players called up to the Colombia national team for the friendly matches against Venezuela

The absence, again, of players such as Yorely Rincón, Isabella Echeverry, Natalia Gaitan and Vanessa Córdoba is surprising

Leicy Santos, Atletico Madrid midfielder, stands out in the Colombian national team's call to face Venezuela in the two friendlies that are scheduled for April 9 and 12 in Cali.

In addition to the Atlético player, coach Nelson Abadía's roster includes figures such as Real Sociedad defender Manuela Vanegas; goalkeeper Sandra Sepúlveda of Israel's Hapoel Marmorek Rehovot; midfielder Liana Salazar of Corinthians; and forward Catalina Usme, the national team's historical top scorer.

However, the surprise is still the absence of defenders Natalia Gaitan and Isabella Echeverri of Sevilla, who have not been called back by coach Abadía, as have goalkeeper Vanessa Córdoba, of Mexican White Roosters, or goalkeeper Yoreli Rincón, of Italian Sampdoria.

The friendlies against Venezuela aim for Colombia to continue the preparation of the Copa América, which will be held in the Andean country from July 8 to 30 and will give three direct spots and two spots to the play-off of the Australia-New Zealand 2023 World Cup.

These are the ones called by Abbey:

Goalkeepers: Catalina Perez (Real Betis-ESP), Stefany Castaño (Deportivo Cali) and Sandra Sepulveda (Hapoel Marmorek Rehovot-ISR).

Defenders: Angela Clavijo (Cruzeiro-BRA), Carolina Arias (Deportivo Cali), Daniela Arias (Pachuca-MEX), Daniela Caracas (Espanyol-ESP), Jorelyn Carabali (Deportivo Cali), Lorena Bedoya (Atlético Nacional), Manuela Vanegas (Real Sociedad-ESP) and Viviana Acosta (Ind. Santa Fe).

This Thursday, March 10, with less than four months to go before the start of the Copa América Femenina to be held in Colombia, the FCF announced the cities that will host the tournament. They will be Cali (Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium), Bucaramanga (Alfonso López Stadium) and Armenia (Centenario Stadium).

The Copa America, scheduled for July 8-30, will award three direct spots and two playoffs for the Women's Football World Cup to be held in 2023 in New Zealand and Australia. It will also provide three passes to next year's Pan American Games in Chile. Compared to the men's edition of this tournament, in which teams from other federations are usually invited, in this one it is ruled out.

Although the stadiums where the sporting event will take place are already known, it is not yet known which matches each venue will receive. The truth is that Cali will receive the final, as the president of the Dimayor, Fernando Jaramillo, said at the time, given that some of the last commitments of the women's tricolor team have been disputed there and the local mayor, Jorge Iván Ospina, ran the city since October 2020.

“Santiago de Cali showed in that game that it is a sports city that supports women, so we aspire to have that honor of being the home of our women's national team,” said the local president when the capital of Valle del Cauca hosted the first matches of the national team.

Of eight editions of the Copa América Femenina, Brazil has been crowned champion in seven (1991, 1995, 1998, 2003, 2010, 2014 and 2018), while Argentina in one (2006). The last tournament, in which the host was runner-up, was in Chile.
