In the midst of the controversy over the long time to secure it, the Mexican National Team finally managed to confirm its presence in the Qatar 2022 World Cup. A discreet seat on the court at Estadio Azteca witnessed the score of two goals to zero over El Salvador with which Mexico managed to equalize Canada in points and take second place in the overall standings. Despite the news, the team led by Gerardo Martino was the target of various criticisms and accolades.

In the final minutes of the match, when Mexico had already secured the advantage thanks to the scores of Uriel Antuna and Raúl Jiménez, David Faitelson condemned the team's performance thanks to the low level of resistance that the Salvadoran team faced during the 90 minutes. In fact, Guillermo Ochoa was not so helped due to the few arrivals that the rivals starred.

“It is impossible to fully recognize an improvement of the Mexican team against such a timid and limited El Salvador (...) Even playing badly and facing critical series, Mexico qualifies with 'comfort' for the World Cup,” he published through his verified Twitter account, Faitelson_ESPN.

Another dissatisfied with the operation of the national team was Javier Alarcón. He even considered that Martino was not the architect of any improvement since the departure of Juan Carlos Osorio. “Super X knockout and also qualifying game for Mexico. To the good of God in November. Detained at the same starting point as four years ago,” the @Javier_Alarcon_ account reads.

In contrast, during the TUDN broadcast, Mauro Camoranessi gave his opinion on the performance of the Mexican National Team. From their point of view, “they played better when they tried individual plays and went out of the script. There Mexico demonstrated the best it has in its ranks and, in short, I think it was a fair result. I think people, at home, saw a worthy representation of the national team.”
