One of the most important procedures for motor vehicle owners is vehicle verification, which seeks to reduce polluting emissions to the maximum in the city, as well as to review the conditions of cars, since those with carburetors in poor mechanical condition can emit more than twice as much pollution and their broadcasts are often visible.
Therefore, the Secretariat of the Environment of Mexico City (Sedema) and the Secretariat of the Environment of the State of Mexico (Edomex), in coordination with the Air Pollution Center, urge motorists to carry out the verification twice a year at one of the verificenters closest to their homes.
In this way, both state agencies indicated through their verification calendar that the vehicles that will have to carry out this procedure during the month of April are those that have the following characteristics: red rubberizing and finishing plates in 3 or 4. Cars with a finish of 1 or 2 on their plates and green rubber will also be able to be checked from 1 April to 30 May.
During the following months, it was established that the calendar provides that in May and June cars with blue rubber and with the last numeric digit of the license plate 9 or 0 can be verified.
CDMX resident users will be able to make an appointment online by accessing this website, where they will perform the following steps:
1. Select your mayor's office and the nearest verificientre to your home.
2. Select the “Appointment here” option.
3. Enter your information in the form.
4. Choose the date and time of your appointment.
In order to carry out the procedure optimally, motorists will need to have their current traffic card and proof of the last vehicle verification. In addition, in the case of a new car, a simple copy of the purchase invoice must be presented and in the event that a fine for late payment has been acquired prior to verification, that proof must also be kept.
For their part, residents of Edomex will be able to generate their appointment online by entering the Vehicle Verification Appointment Registration Service, on whose website the following steps will have to be carried out:
1. Select the “Appointments verification” option.
2. Click on the “Schedule Appointment” module.
3. Enter the data related to the vehicle to be verified.
4. Select which check you will attend and schedule the appointment.
At the time of the appointment at the specified establishment, the following documents must be presented:
- Official identification.
- Proof of the last verification carried out.
- Payment of fine for extraordinary verification, if applicable.
- Valid circulation card.
- Copy of vehicle invoice, only in case the unit is new.
The price of this procedure will be 585 pesos in CDMX and the penalties for not doing it on time amount to 1,792 pesos. In contrast, the costs for verifications on the Edomex will be as follows, depending on the holograms they possess:
1. Doble Cero (00): 896 pesos, which corresponds to 10 A
2. Cero (0): 448 pesos, equivalent to 10 A
3. Type 1 and 2: 358 pesos, corresponding to four UMA
