Miley Cyrus paid an emotional tribute to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins during his performance at Lollapalooza Brazil in Sao Paulo.
“The show of the last few nights in Brazil is dedicated to my friend and legend Taylor Hawkins,” the 29-year-old singer-songwriter had announced.
During the recital, Miley dedicated the song “Angels Like You” to Hawkins, while behind it was a black and white photo of the musician behind a drum set. The singer looked very excited, on the verge of tears.
“That's how I'll always remember you,” Miley wrote on Instagram.
Later, he recalled a happy moment with the drummer, who passed away on Friday, while he played the classic song by The Pretenders, “Brass In Pocket”.
“My favorite memory with Taylor is dancing around his drums while he played this song...” , he wrote, along with a photo of the album cover.
“Playing it on repeat by imagining ourselves laughing... Love forever.”

Before her concert on Saturday, Miley opened up to her fans about how bad she had felt in recent days, which was only aggravated by the death of her friend.
“Brazil... I've had a really stressful last few days emotionally and physically. After having altitude sickness, my plane was struck by lightning and the first person I spoke to after the flight has already passed away... “, he tweeted, apparently referring to Hawkins.
“When I got to where I was going I had bronchitis!” , he added.

She wrote that it was better to be “honest” with her fans and continued: “I just want tonight's show to be PERFECT for you... but I know that none of you have ever loved me because I'm perfect... I've actually been the opposite. They have loved me through all my past struggles and I know they will support me now.”
Miley admitted that she had considered simply canceling the show and moving on.
“My mind wants to run... But my heart and soul would NEVER leave Brazil without giving them the best possible show,” he wrote. “It's not aligned with my values not keeping my word. I promised them a SHOW and there will be one! There's a lot to celebrate and get excited about...”

“I feel heartbroken and 'human' today... But I'm putting on my superhero costume and I'm going to be strong not only for YOU but for ME! I want to live my truth AND MY MESSAGE! Never give up!” , he continued, before sharing another dedication.
“Tonight's show is in honor of my friend Taylor Hawkins. The baddest guy I know who would want me to shine and sing LOUD for the love of rock n roll! I got this with a little help from my friend TH above and from all of you. Let's do it.”
Hawkins, 50, died in a hotel room in Bogotá, Colombia, following the band's performance at the Chilean edition of Lollapalooza, before members headed to Brazil to headline the final night of the São Paulo festival on Sunday.
A statement from the Attorney General's Office in Bogotá indicated that traces of opioids, benzodiazepines and antidepressants were found in Hawkins' body, but it is not yet known whether they played any role in his death.
The rocker had previously struggled with substance abuse problems early in his career.
