Tegucigalpa, 23 Mar Uruguayan coach Manuel Keosseián arrived this Wednesday in San Pedro Sula, in northern Honduras, to take over the leadership of the Marathón Sports Club, which he has already won three times. “Marathón's goal is to become champion,” Keosseian told reporters waiting for him at the airport in San Pedro Sula, the second largest city in Honduras, which counts two teams in the first division league of local football. The other is Real España. The South American coach stressed that the fans of the Marathon want the team to be champion and that “is what we want when we come here”. He added that the club's situation is not easy because they are in seventh place in the Clausura tournament, with 13 points, but that they will be looking to win the remaining seven matches of the two regular laps or add as many as possible to ensure the passage to the second round, to which six of the ten clubs participating in the competition. The next match of the Marathon, corresponding to the twelfth day, will be against Real España, on April 2, in another local classic of Honduran football. Keosseián, who this Wednesday led his first training session with the Marathon, stressed that the rivalry with Real España “always gives the game a plus”, because each team wants to win the classic. He also pointed out that he brings three assistants from Uruguay and that of the Hondurans who are now in charge of the team, he could leave one, which he will evaluate soon because there cannot be many people in the coaching staff. The Uruguayan coach will replace his compatriot Martín “Tato” García, who after the game on matchday 10 of the Clausura, which the Marathon tied 1-1 with Vida, decided to retire from the team due to the poor performance he has had. After eleven days of the Clausura, the Marathon won four games, tied one and lost six. The team, along with Olimpia, Motagua and Real España, are considered the four best clubs in Honduran football.
