The Kings present the National Design Awards today in Valencia

Valencia, 21 Mar The presentation of the 2021 National Innovation and Design Awards awarded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation will be held this Monday at an event at the Valencia Conference Centre that will be chaired by the kings. In its 29th edition, the most important awards in Spain in the fields of innovation and design go to Valencia, the city of the World Design Capital 2022 and which already hosted the event in 2019, and this year went to Dr. Eduardo Anitua, designers Jaime Hayon and Danny Saltaren, and the companies Consentino, CerTest Biotec and Expormim , to which a special mention is added for Ramón Úbeda. The event will also feature the participation of the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, the President of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, and the Mayor of Valencia, Joan Ribó, as well as the president of the Valencia Capital of Design Association, Marisa Gallén; the vice-president and member of the board of directors of the World Design Organization, Luis Calabuig; the president of the Design Foundation of the Valencian Community, Vicent Martínez, and the director of Valencia World Design Capital 2022, Xavi Calvo. Anitua, a world leader in regenerative medicine and oral implantology, is awarded the Innovative Trajectory Award for “exceptionally embodying the innovative spirit at the service of people and improving their health and quality of life”. The Innovation Award in the Gran Empresa category goes to the Almerian firm Consetino, a world leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces of high value for the world of design and architecture, while the Aragonese Certest Biotec has won the Small and Medium Business Award for the solidity of its strategy based on R&D&I. The National Design Award in the Professional category went to the artist-designer Jaime Hayon, as the “undisputed benchmark of Spanish design internationally”, and in the category of companies it went to the Valencian company Expormim, for knowing how to combine “in an extraordinary way” the values of the traditional craft industry with the avant-garde in the design of high quality furniture. The Young Designers Award goes to Danny Saltaren for being “one of the greatest national exponents in the field of digital design and innovative entrepreneurship”, while a special mention in Design for Professionals was awarded to Ramón Úbeda, who “exceptionally” represents the importance of research, dissemination, strategic management and the generation of quality content in the Design ecosystem. The prizes are strictly honorary, except for Innovation in the Small and Medium Business category, with an endowment of 30,000 euros, the same as that of Design for Professionals, and that of Young Designers, with 15,000 euros.
