Eleazar Gómez apologized after cancellation of his tribute at Galería de las Estrellas

Although the organization of the Plaza Galería de las estrellas in Mexico City had announced that last Friday, March 18, a tribute to the career of actor Eleazar Gómez would be held, the event ended up being canceled a few hours after the start.

Because of the announcement, the company received all kinds of criticism and accusations on social networks from people, especially women, who considered totally “out of place and undeserved” a tribute to the actor who was punished in prison in 2020 and part of 2021 for physical violence against a woman.

The actor was imprisoned in the North Prison in Mexico City from November 2021 to March 2022 because of the attacks he committed against his former partner, the Peruvian singer Tefi Valenzuela.

Now, in an effort to recover his career, the actor from Dare to Dream would attend to receive a Luminaria Prize that is given in tribute to artistic careers. However, the event was canceled a few hours after it took place.

“We are in favour of rights and non-violence against women, which is why the event scheduled for today, where Mr. Eleazar Gómez would be presented, has been canceled. We apologize to all those who might be offended by this reason,” the company said on its social networks.

Now, it is Zoraida Gomez's brother who issued a message to publicize his perspective and apologize to those who continue to point him out as an “aggressive and abusive man”:

“I was going to perform at the 'Plaza Galerias de las Estrellas', days before I received the invitation from the organizers of the place, to give me recognition for my artistic career, which I gladly accepted.

“Just on the same day, a few hours before it took place, I received the news that they canceled the event! The Plaza communiqué claimed to be in favor of rights and non-violence against women.”

Danna Paola's ex-boyfriend said that “with all sincerity, humility and with my heart in my hand, I again offer an apology to those who have been offended by everything that triggered”, referring to the violent episode that led him to prison for equated family violence.

The actor from La mexicana y el güero, who had to reach a reparatory agreement with his former partner, model Tefi Valenzuela, in order to go free, in addition to having paid a large sum, asked for consideration because he assured that he “already paid”, in addition to complying with one of the agreements he reached: taking psychological therapy.

Although he accepted “the decisions of others”, Eleazar pointed out that the untimely cancellation of the event affected not only him but also all the staff that had already been hired by him to carry out his presentation:

“I agree with the decisions and opinions of others, but in the case of the resolution of the square by canceling the event and my participation, they affected many people, dancers, hired musicians and my followers who had already traveled to the place to support and the other winners in general,” he wrote.

The 35-year-old singer ended his statement with a message of self-improvement: “Today I want to be a better person, mainly for myself and my loved ones.”
