AIFA minute by minute: the first flights landed at the new facilities

On March 21, the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) will hand over to the Federal Government the first stage of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA), after two years and five months of construction.

In this way, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) will lead the official inauguration of the megaproject, whose operations began a few minutes before 07:00 hours with the departure of the first commercial flight corresponding to the Aeromexico company.

The press conference of Andrés Manuel López Obrador and his cabinet begins from the AIFA facilities. “I think the airport is 100. Completely concluded. They can drop planes, take off and arrive 24 hours a day. It's a matter of airlines increasing their travel,” said the president.

AIFA's first commercial flight takes off. This is Aeromexico flight AM 890 to the city of Villahermosa, Tabasco, with 89 passengers on board.
