“I met him when I was 17, my mom told me his whole romance story” were the first words with which the comedian Gerly Hassam Gomez announced, through his Instagram account, the emotional reunion with his father after almost two decades without seeing each other.
It was the first time that Hassam had shown it, since previously he did not dust off photos of him or mention it in a post asking if they would see each other again; but to the surprise of his 2.5 million followers on that platform, the comedian posted, in addition to several photos with his father, a moving message.
There, he mentioned that in his adolescence he grew up with the idea that his dad “was a kind of superhero who had managed to win Lucia's love”, referring to his mother, and wrote that the last time he had seen him was 19 years ago, when he told him that he would be a grandfather. Since then, father and son have grown apart.
He also wrote that those years of absence were difficult to forgive, but thanks to a motivational message from the speaker Dante Gebel, he was able to find a solution to that dilemma, and as a result of that talk, the former participant of 'MasterChef Celebrity' called his father to have a pleasant reunion.

“Yesterday I listened to Dante Gebel in one of his preaching entitled: “Remember to forget” and today by a simple chance I had the opportunity to embrace him, look him in the eye and without rancor, without resentment, but above all, understanding that we are the product of our decisions, I was able to put my heart at peace,” said Hassam Gómez.
He then sent a reflection on forgiveness and pride, also stating that simple gestures prevent interacting with other people, or as in the case of him and his father, from reconnecting after almost two decades.
“Many times pride or prejudice prevents us from sending a message, answering a call, accepting a forgiveness, not knowing that it could be the last time and that those decisions can change our destiny,” his message concluded.

As expected, the post became very popular, reaching almost 52,000 likes and nearly 2,800 comments, many of them surprised by the words of Bogotá and his father's visit.

“It's the most important thing: forget. Because if you don't, you're the only one who gets bitter and suffers, and even gets sick. What a great lesson you give in this publication,” commented influencer Jonathan Clay. Actresses Carolina Ramírez y, Sandra Guzmán, and comedian Fabiola Posada also applauded that gesture.
Other reactions even highlighted the physical resemblance that father and son have: “They are very similar”; “Hassam what a beautiful testimony you have given us”; “I applaud these kinds of attitudes, I know that restoring bonds costs tons, that will give you life, tranquility and peace”; “It is not always necessary to involve them in our lives, they did not want to to be present, and it is not rancor or hatred, they are simply not part of my life”; “The best thing I could read, the best thing you have done dear friend. God smiles when you see you!” and “They are a photocopy. This is how healing and forgiving fills our hearts and souls with peace.”
