In view of the murder of journalist Armando Linares in Zitácuaro, Michoacán, the quorum in the Senate of the Republic for the session of this Wednesday, March 16 held an event in commemoration of his memory. The Speaker of the House, Olga Sánchez Cordero, made the request to the legislators before starting the day's assembly.
The journalist was developing as director of the media Monitor Michoacán, which had already been the victim of another murder of one of its members: Roberto Toledo, just in January. Both cases reported threats before being finalized.
“As you know, yesterday the death of journalist Armando Linares occurred. The information in this regard indicates that he was the victim of an attack with firearms, I would carefully ask them to stand up to observe a minute's silence in memory of this journalist. On behalf of the House of Senators, I express the solidarity of this plenary session to their families and friends,” said the former minister.
