Since it became known that, presumably, the senator-elect Piedad Córdoba would be Teodora Bolívar, the presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt has not missed an opportunity to question it vehemently. For example, in the debate of Semana magazine and the newspaper El Tiempo, she reminded her of her current investigations, which caused the reaction of today's congressman of the Historical Pact.
“Gustavo Petro has already made it to the second round. He organized that quota very well, he organized it with machinery. When he talks about corruption, I shudder because his lists are very corrupt characters. (...) -In petrianism- There are people accused of having been the procurers of the kidnapping and this is talking about Piedad Córdoba, who is under investigation by the Supreme Court of Justice,” said Betancourt, candidate for Oxygen Green.
These and other harsh criticisms were protagonists in the speech of the former FARC abductee, who did not hesitate to ensure that Piedad Córdoba, now a member of Gustavo Petro's alliance, would have been responsible for her not being released quickly.
Well, after his particular tirade went viral on the night of Monday, March 14, Córdoba did not hesitate to react and challenged Betancourt to a debate. However, he did not miss an opportunity to insult her and confront her the freedom she regained in 2008 during operation Jaque.
In addition, she demanded that her contradictor bring the evidence linking her to being Teodora Bolivar before the Supreme Court of Justice. Those statements came as Betancourt debated live with presidential candidates Gustavo Petro, of the Historical Pact and Federico Gutiérrez, of the Team for Colombia.
In other parts of her speech, Ingrid Betancourt assured that “the problem is not in Piedad”, referring to the controversial adherence to petroism and did not hesitate to leave criticism of Petro, who “accepts that Piety enters with these unions because it brings him political gains, because it brings him funding, because it brings him votes and because he supports that campaign. The problem is to associate with Piedad Córdoba, Gustavo, that's the problem,” he said.
This is not the first time that the founder of Verde Oxígeno has attacked Piedad Córdoba, who will arrive in the Senate of the Republic on July 20. In the middle of a press conference, at the end of her presidential registration along with her formula for vice-president, Ingrid Betancourt once again referred to the legislative aspiration of Córdoba, which has already materialized, and assured that, those who voted for her on the list of petriism to the Senate of the Republic, will be supporting a “processing agency of abductions”.
“What surprises me is that the Historical Pact continues to protect it (Piedad Córdoba) in a closed list. Whoever votes for the lists closed to Congress of the Historical Pact is voting for a kidnapping company. I call on Colombians to vote responsibly,” Betancourt said.
In that same statement, the presidential candidate assured that all political parties in the country are filtered by “machines”, and therefore already have corruption in their ranks, so she assured that with Colonel Jorge Luis Esparza she will fight against these mafias.
“The machines infiltrated every match. Corruption is everywhere. The reason why I left the Centro Esperanza Coalition was because machines were also leaked into the coalition. No more compromise, no more settling in with machinery. We can do clean politics only with a vote of opinion,” said Betancourt, at the same time that she swore on her life that she will not let politicians investigated for corruption into her community.
