Officer Beatriz “N” of Mexico City's Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) was investigated for killing an assailant during an exchange of fire. On Monday, two men escaped with goods stolen from a parcel van in Iztapalapa mayor's office, when they were shot with two capital troops, one of them the policewoman.

The events occurred when the operators of the Center for Command and Control (C2) Oriente reported a robbery of a DHL company driver on the corner of Vicente Guerrero and Carlos Hank González streets, in the Francisco Villa neighborhood. The person affected told the police officers who came as first responders that two men threatened him with a gun, then took several packages out of the van and got into a white vehicle with a pink stripe. He also said he was stripped of his cell phone.

At that time, the officers implemented a search device and, with the support of C2 Oriente personnel, who carried out a virtual siege, located the vehicle with the characteristics mentioned by the victim on Canal de Suez Street, where they observed that those involved were passing the stolen packages into a van .

It was on Tehualki Street, in the La Polvorilla neighborhood, where you can only access through a narrow street, where the officers intercepted the unit and stopped its driver. However, he omitted the indication and continued on his way, so later, when they stopped, the co-pilot detonated against the policemen, who, seeing their lives at risk, repelled the aggression.

In the shooting, Officer Beatriz, who was participating in the operation, fired at the aggressors and managed to injure one of them. Seeing that the subject vanished on the asphalt tape, the uniformed men requested medical support, while the other accomplice driving the vehicle was arrested, along with a Beretta gun, caliber .25.

The paramedics of Civil Protection (CP) of the Iztapalapa mayor's office who came to the point, after the medical evaluation, indicated that the male approximately 25 years old who was on the floor, no longer had vital signs due to a firearm injury in the lumbar region.

Subsequently, when carrying out a preventive inspection of the vehicle involved, the short firearm, a scanner of the affected parcel company, a mobile device and hearing aids were found. The 58-year-old man, for his part, was arrested and presented to the agent of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Iztapalapa, who will determine his legal status and conduct investigations into the case.

It should be noted that staff of the General Directorate of Internal Affairs of the SSC initiated a research kit to determine the protocol of action of the SSC personnel involved in the event, which was submitted to the ministerial authorities to render their statements.
