Miami, 14 Mar The Puerto Rican duo Wisin and Yandel announced on Monday an extensive tour of North America and Puerto Rico, “The Last Mission Tour”, which will end a trajectory of almost two decades that began “with a notebook and a dream,” they said. The urban music singers, identified as “The Duo of History”, will start the tour on September 20 at the FTX Arena in Miami, in South Florida (USA), and will do so with what will be their last studio album, also called “The Last Mission”, which will be released between April and May. “It will be a tour to remember how tasty reggaeton is, it's more to thank millions of people for our almost 20 year career. We are both honored and sad,” said Juan Luis Morera, Wisin's birth name, at a press conference held this Monday in Miami. At their side, Llandel Veguilla Malavé or Yandel pointed out that the reason for what will be the second separation of the duo, after a first hiatus in 2014 that lasted five years, has to do with family commitments and solo projects. “We want to close this cycle as it should be,” said the singer, who said he felt “very happy, very complete” due to both the tour and the publication of what will be the duo's tenth studio album, whose gestation process began before the covid-19 pandemic. “Ours is happy, it has energy, and that is what we will do on the tour,” Wisin promised, referring to the tour that will pass through 26 cities and that will end in style on December 2 at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico in San Juan. The singers were “very happy” for the “great artists” who have joined their next album, including Tego Calderón, considered one of the “fathers of reggaeton and who has allowed Wisin and Yandel to “fulfill a dream” as it is to be able to work with this Puerto Rican figure. Next Friday the duo will release a new single that will be part of “La última Misión”, whose first single was “Recordar”, released last December, they announced. THE DUO OF HISTORY With 47 singles at the top of the Billboard charts, plus one Grammy Award and two Latin Grammys, among other awards received during their career, Wisin and Yandel will be honored with the President's Award from the broadcasting rights organization Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) in recognition of their “valuable contributions to the Latin music community”. The duo will receive the award during the twenty-ninth edition of the BMI Latin Awards, which will take place tomorrow Tuesday in Beverly Hills, California (USA). “At first it was just a notebook and a dream,” Wisin recalled today as he looked at the duo's beginnings in Cayey, in the central and mountainous area of Puerto Rico, from where they developed a career that led them to be applauded throughout Latin America. On their native island, in December 2019 they reached the milestone of offering eight consecutive performances at the José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in Puerto Rico, in San Juan, the main venue on the island, in which they have performed a total of 25 times. “Music can be a salvation and that's why we help young people,” said Yandel, noting that at this stage of their careers they all the more reason why they offer tools for new generations of musicians. Along these lines, Wisin welcomed the fact that “each country” currently has an outstanding female representation within the genre of urban music. Lorenzo Castro E.
