(ATR) Russia will stage the 2018 World Cup.
The decision came minutes ago in Zurich as FIFA's Executive Committee voted in a secret ballot for hosts of the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter announced the 2018 host in a ceremony at the Zurich Messe.
FIFA did not release the voting figures for the rounds of voting. With22 Ex-co members voting, a majority of 12 was required for outrightvictory.
The Russian bid saw off competition from England, Holland-Belgium and Spain-Portugal.
The 2018 bids presented to the 22 voters on Thursday morning.
