Seoul, SOUTH KOREA – November 16, 2017

The Government of Canada is pleased with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation Board’s approval of the Executive Committee’s recommendation to renew the Montréal headquarters agreement from 2021 to 2031.

Canada is proud to have hosted the WADA headquarters in Montréal since 2001. The Government of Canada is committed to continue working with Montréal International, the Government of Quebec and the City of Montréal to maintain the headquarters as an important contribution to our country’s commitment to the worldwide anti-doping movement.

The WADA was established jointly by the sport movement and governments in 1999 to harmonize the global fight against doping in sport. The current agreement for the WADA headquarters expires in 2021 and will now be extended for another ten years.

This decision will provide the WADA with long-term stability for its headquarters, which will allow the Agency to continue to focus its efforts and resources on addressing key anti-doping issues in the interest of clean athletes worldwide.
