(ATR) PyeongChang 2018 organizers christened many of the venues to be used in the Games this week.

According to the Yonhap News Agency, PyeongChang 2018 organizers released the venue names on Friday after several months of deliberation.

The organizing committee has consulted with the Gangwon province and national federations of each sport since March. The names were finalized after discussions with the IOC.

Ski jumping, biathlon, and cross-country skiing will be held in the Alpensia ski resort at the Alpensia Ski Jumping Center, Alpensia Biathlon Center, and Alpensia Cross-Country Center, respectively. Luge, skeleton, and bobsleigh will be held at the Alpensia Sliding Center.

Alpine skiing events will take place at two separate venues: the Yongpyong Alpine Center at the Yongpyong Resort in PyeongChang and the Jeongseon Alpine Center in Jeongseon, south of the host city.

The Gangneung Coastal Cluster, located east of Pyeongchang in Gangneung, will house speed skating, figure skating, hockey and curling events. The cluster includes the Gangneung Curling Center, where curling events for both Olympians and Paralympians will be held; the Gyeongpo Oval, built specifically for speed skating events; the Gangneung Ice Arena, which will host short track and figure skating events; and the Yulgok Hockey Center, home of men’s hockey in the Olympics and ice sledge hockey during the Paralympics.

Women’s hockey will take place at the Kwandong Hockey Centre at the Catholic Kwandong University.

Snowboard and freestyle skiing will take place at the Bokwang Snow Park, west of PyeongChang.

The Nordic combined venue has yet to be named.
