(ATR) McDonald’s filled two senior level positions on Jun. 9.

Robert Gibbs was appointed executive vice president, global chief communications officer and Silvia Lagnado was appointed as executive vice president, global chief marketing officer the company announced in a release.

The appointments have been described by McDonald’s as part of their "turnaround plan," to combat recent global sales slumps.

"Returning excitement to our business proposition and brand is foundational to our turnaround plan," Steve Easterbrook, McDonald’s CEO, said in a statement.

"Robert and Silvia -- with their respective teams -- will play critical roles in bringing this strategy to life."

Rio Olympic Pool Supplier

All competition pools built for the 2016 Olympics will be supplied by Myrtha Pools.

The Italian pool outfitter was named the official supplier for the 2016 Olympics on Jun. 9 in Rio de Janeiro.

Myrtha will supply two 50m pools in the aquatics center used for the Games, and will assist with maintenance in the run-up and throughout the Games. This will be the fourth Olympic Games featuring Myrtha Pools after the 1996, 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

"The more than 50 years that made our company a point of reference for international swimming competitions is also the best guarantee for our customers because it is proof of the attention we put into every project," the company said in a statement at the announcement.

Myrtha currently operates pools in three cities in Brazil: Fortaleza, Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paolo.
