The International Canoe Federation (ICF) is pleased to announce the launch of the digital issue of its annual publication Planet Canoe. The digitalization of Planet Canoe 2012 – Olympic Games Edition, marks the first time that the magazine is made available online on the ICF website.
"This is a tremendous accomplishment for the ICF," said ICF Secretary General Simon Toulson. "We are very excited about this edition, it is full of great photos and articles, and it showcases our sport in the best possible way."
"Digitalizing Planet Canoe and making it available online is an innovative way of sharing Canoeing with a wider audience as it increases the magazine’s accessibility."
"There is also a major advantage for us because unlike the print version of the magazine, it is much easier to monitor our readership as we can now access which articles and topics are of most interest to our readers, which is important for the future development of the magazine."
Spencer Gore, Director of Absolute Media Group said, "Absolute Media Group have really enjoyed working with the ICF on the Planet Canoe Project. We’re proud to have been selected by them to convert their publication into an eBook and look forward to providing them with a world class service to match their high standards. The videos and links really bring the publication to life and turn what was already a fantastic looking magazine in to a complete experience for the reader."
The printed version of Planet Canoe magazine is circulated to athletes, National Olympic Committees (NOC), Canoeing National Federations, individuals and institutions of the Olympic Movement and paddle enthusiasts, elite and recreational. The magazine is also distributed at every ICF event and can be ordered by sending a request to media@canoeicf.com.
Planet Canoe offers a season review of all eight Canoeing disciplines, with a special emphasis on the Olympic disciplines of Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom. Contemporary topics such as sustainability projects, gender equality in Canoeing, doping in sport are brought to the fore and there are also interesting product features from some of Canoeing’s biggest manufacturers. Recreational paddlers can also journey to Iceland, China and Canada through the experience of some Canoeing’s most daring adventurers.
The highlight of this edition of the magazine is undoubtedly the preview of the upcoming Olympic Games section which includes an interview with London 2012 Chairman Sebastian Coe, as well as great interviews with Slalom Men’s K1 World Champion Peter Kauzer (SLO), three times Olympic gold medalists and four time world champions Peter and Pavol Hochschorner (SVK) and Women’s Double Kayak stars Yvonne Schurring and Viktoria Schwarz (AUT). Also included in the magazine are athlete articles on their "Journey to London 2012", history of Canoeing at the Olympic Games, Canoeing facts & figures, venue information, competition schedules, and many more.
