(ATR) Burlington, Massachusetts could host shooting events for the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics.

Boston 2024 said on Jun. 15 that Minute Man Sportsman’s Club would be the venue for Olympic and Paralympic shooting. This is the third venue released by Boston 2024 for their revised bid plan, and the second venue outside of Boston.

For the Games, a 5,000-seat temporary structure would be erected at the club, with construction time being an estimated 16 weeks. After the Games, four weeks of breakdown would be required.

Boston 2024 chief executive Richard Davey said in a statement that the Games will "provide the club with new and upgraded facilities" and that the organizing committee is working with the towns of Burlington and Billerica, where Minute Man is located, in preparation for all opportunities the Olympics could bring.

"Minute Man has 80+ years of promoting excellence in the shooting sports," Hank Garvey, board member of Minute Man Sportsman’s Club, said in a statement.

"For the athletes we have today in very real pursuit of the Olympic path, this provides motivation and increases their drive to achieve. For the future, it assists us in recruiting kids to be involved with this great sport; they now have a chance to be part of something really special."

Minute Man is located around 13 miles northwest of Boston and, like the sailing venue, will be located outside of the city. The full bid plan from Boston 2024 is expected to be released by the end of the month.
