Mexican actress Verónica Toussaint announced in September last year that she was diagnosed with breast cancer, so she underwent various chemotherapies which ended on March 17.
After this, the winner of Ariel confessed the steps to take to move forward with this life experience, one of them being to carry out a study called PET (positron emission tomography), which measures tumor activity and how much it has decreased to, subsequently, undergo surgery.
That is why Verónica commented on the process she has carried out until today for an interview with TVNotas. Well, after being questioned by the media about whether the aforementioned study was carried out, the actress nodded and stressed that the results were what she expected.
“Yes, the truth is that the result was very positive. Now what follows is surgery where they remove the tissue, it is the normal protocol that they always carry and we don't have a date yet.”
Likewise, the artist informed which parts of her breast will be removed, so as not to get confused and say that her breast was removed.
“It will be a couple of nodes and a piece of breast tissue, but you have to be careful not to say that they removed my breast, because it is a conservative surgery,” the famous one revealed.
Regarding the doubt whether after surgery she will return to chemotherapy treatment, Veronica replied that it is a slow process, because we still have to wait for the results of the tissue that will be extracted:
“No, we are actually making progress little by little. Once they do the surgery, they have to send the tissue to pathology so they can analyze it and see what is there, what is left and what the next steps are,” he said.
For this reason, Toussaint insisted that the disease involves an extensive process, since technology - as well as research - continues to advance each body responds differently.
“What happens next? It is only known after the surgery is over. Breast cancer, which is one of the most studied cancers, is a long process, it's not like you get chemos and you can go home. I want to be careful in what I say because it is a disease that unfortunately there are more and more people suffering from it and each body reacts differently,” added Toussaint.
At the mention of advanced technology, Veronica said that the doctor with whom she goes gave her natural pills which helped her to continue her daily routine after brutal chemotherapy.
“I have been treated with Dr. Astudillo. A friend of mine met him at a World Cancer Summit and he has been doing a lot of studies about it. I have been hand in hand with the doctor and he gives me some pills that are natural, have turmeric that deflates inflammation, shiitake mushroom and other natural ingredients such as amino acids and antioxidants that also help you recover because chemos are super strong. These pills have made me feel very good, that's why they can see me chambeing and giving a beat,” said the winner of Ariel.
Some time ago, the driver mentioned that, although she did lose hair, her appearance did not change as she underwent new technologies that helped her not to denote baldness.
“It's called dignicap and it consists of a helmet that cools the scalp. I don't know scientifically what it does either, but it cools down and makes the heat you generate with chemo doesn't ruin the follicle so you don't lose hair. It doesn't work in every case because every patient is different,” said the former LOL Mexico participant.
