José Luis Carranza, former Universitario footballer, posted a message on his social networks after the team's defeat merengue in the Peruvian football classic against Alianza Lima last weekend for the 10th date of Liga 1.
The 'Puma' Carranza, a self-confessed fan and idol of Universitario, came out in defense of his team after the victory of Alianza Lima at the Monumental de Ate stadium last Sunday, April 17.
The repercussions of the classic between the cream and the blue and white team from the analysis of the game and the large result led to the dismissal of the Uruguayan coach Álvaro Gutiérrez and the multiple reactions of characters and fans of both teams.
This time, the former player 'merengue' used his Instagram and Facebook accounts to remind his classic rival of the title won in 1999 at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium with a peculiar reference to TAS in reference to the ruling of the sports arbitration body that allowed the intimate team to return to the Peruvian Primera Division championship, a year later after losing the category.
“That stain is not erased even by going to the TAS,” Carranza quoted as the title of his social media post. He then wrote a phrase that detracts from the defeat suffered in League 1 2022 and compared it to the Olympic return in Matute in 1999.
“If winning a match in my stadium makes you happy, imagine how happy I was when I saw you leave the field and then we turned around in your little stadium,” said 'Puma' Carranza.
At the end of his post, which went viral in a few hours and garnered thousands of reactions along with hundreds of comments, 'Puma' appealed to a striking description of the merengue club: “Proud to have been born superior. And give her 'U' all her life! ”.
The 'Puma' Carranza referred to the final of Decentralized 1999. Universitario then qualified for first place in the Apertura and Alianza Lima Tournament by winning the Clausura. In fact, the former player 'merengue' started in that match with Oscar Ibáñez, Luis Guadalupe, Juan Pajuelo, Edson Dominguez and Giuliano Portilla, Marko Ciurlizza, Gregorio Bernales and Gustavo Grondona, Mauro Cantoro and Eduardo Esidio.
In the first leg, the cream team beat the blue and white 3-0 at the National Stadium with goals from Roberto Farfan, Eduardo Esidio and José del Solar. In the rematch in Matute, the 'merengue' lost 1-0 to the local with a goal from Victor Mafla, but it was enough to win the national title with Roberto Chale as coach. It was the two-time championship, which was part of the three-time championship created by strategist Osvaldo Piazza (1998) and complemented the 'Terrible Child' himself a year later (2000).
