The third race of the season was held in Formula 1, where Sergio Pérez did his job and won a new podium in his career, finishing second place and earning valuable points to try to compete for the Drivers and Constructors' World Championship.

Despite the fact that the Mexican rider beat Lewis Hamilton twice during the Australian GP, there was a moment of tension that worried his fans and questioned his final result, since at the start he was overtaken by the Englishman with a spectacular maneuver by stretching his braking to the maximum.

Although Max Verstappen made it difficult for Checo Pérez to pass and this opened the door for Lewis Hamilton to rise from fifth to third place, a sector of opinion criticized the Mexican, so Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko came out to give his opinion on the tapatio race.

Dr. Marko praised the Mexican's good work in Australia and, due to Max Verstappen's new abandonment, explained that finishing in second place was the best he could do at the weekend, as the fight against Ferrari was practically non-existent on Sunday.

“Checo had a great race and was on an equal footing with Max. He lost a position at the start, but it was a sensational start for Hamilton,” explained Helmut after the Grand Prix, as Perez remained at the level of his teammate's times and even surpassed it in some qualifying sessions.

He later explained that it is these types of results that are what Sergio needs, especially when Max has his own or other's failures, as happened in Azerbaijan during 2021.

“Ferrari was very strong today and we never had a chance against them. This is the first weekend in which they really outdid us,” said the former Austrian-born driver, who serves as Christian Horner's right-hand man at Red Bull.

Although Sergio Pérez finished in second place, he finished more than 20 seconds away from Charles Leclerc, who finished a perfect weekend by winning a Grand Chelem, the historic motorsport distinction that includes pole position, victory, fastest lap and leading all laps of the race.

Given this scenario, a second place was the most that any Red Bull driver could get and who was going in the direction of Max Verstappen; however, an abandonment due to a fuel leak gave the Mexican the place, although it also allowed the rise to the podium of Mercedes. George Russell.

In addition to these words, the Red Bull advisor also mentioned that Checo Pérez is very comfortable in the car and even a little more than the world champion Verstappen, who in addition to suffering from reliability, has not managed to find his best rhythm with the Austrian racing car.

“I think there are two things with Perez. The first thing is that the car fits him more and feels more comfortable. Secondly, the team knows him better, his career engineer has also grown a lot, they have more confidence, more mutual knowledge,” said Marko, who placed himself as one of the institution's main spokespersons before the media.
