A new date on the Formula 1 calendar is about to take place with the Australian Grand Prix dispute that returns after two years of absence. The Albert Park Circuit, in Melbourne, makes its comeback on the third day of racing of the 2022 season, a track where the Mexican Sergio Pérez has maintained an irregular pace.
However, since the last time it was held, in 2019, there have been essential changes that allow us to visualize a good result for Checo in the next event. Two years ago, Perez was racing for Racing Point. He currently does it for Red Bull Racing, the team of the current world champion driver and second in the constructors' championship in 2021. That is, he never raced in Melbourne for a team that played the top spots.
In total, the Mexican has raced in Australia a total of nine times, of which he has only scored points in four of them. In fact, the Albert Park track is a special event for the driver because it was there that he made his debut in the top category of motorsport in 2011. In that race, Checo surprised to finish seventh in the race, but together with his teammate, the Japanese Kamui Kobayashi, they were disqualified due to irregularities in their cars.

Australian GP 2019:13th place with Racing Point.
Australian GP 2018:11th place with Force India.
Australian GP 2017: 7th place with Force India.
Australian GP 2016:13th place with Force India.
Australian GP 2015:10th place with Force India.
Australian GP 2014:10th place with Force India.
Australian GP 2013:11th place with McLaren.
Australian GP 2012: 8th place with Sauber.
Australian GP 2011: disqualified with Sauber.
The new year did not start as expected for the Mexican. In the first race of the championship, both he and Max Verstappen left the event due to failures in the car. In the case of Checo, he lost the podium place one lap after the end of the event. In the second, he finished fourth, but for most of the actions he took first place (a situation with the safety car negatively affected the team's strategy).
“So far the races have been very close and the team and I have been unlucky at times, but I am confident that my luck will change this weekend. We have a strong package this season and I'm looking forward to getting back in the car to see what we can do. Earlier this week I did a simulator job and I think that the changes should be good for the show and will make things fun,” said the tapatio.

On returning to Australia, he commented that “it is great to return to Melbourne after two years of absence. It's always a fun place to run. The fans are always great and I'm sure they're really excited to have Formula One again.”
