Navalny said Russian state media share responsibility with Putin: “They should be treated like war criminals”

Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny assured that Russian state media share the blame with the government for the atrocities that were committed in Ukraine during the invasion: “Propagandists are creating a public opinion that no longer only allows Putin to commit war crimes, but demands them from them ”.

“How does an ordinary Russian television viewer (one of whom I am currently) see it. I learned about the monstrous events in Bucha yesterday morning from the news that Russia was convening the UN Security Council in connection with the massacre of Ukrainian Nazis in Bucha,” Navalny wrote in the first tweet of a 14-year thread he published from prison.

In the evening, he heard the Channel One presenter saying: “NATO has been preparing the provocation in Bucha for a long time and at the highest level. This is also confirmed by the fact that President Biden called Putin a 'butcher' not so long ago. Listen to how consonants sound the English word 'butcher' and the name of the city 'Bucha'. This is how the Western audience unconsciously prepared for this provocation.”

Navalny did not believe his ears: “I tell you, the monstrosity of lies on federal channels is unimaginable. And, unfortunately, so is their ability to persuade those who don't have access to alternative information.”

“My point is that Putin's propaganda has long since ceased to be a tool. They are real warmongers and have become a party in their own right,” he warned. “The incessantly squeaking anchors and their 'experts' are accelerating their fury and have long overtaken the military in their aggressiveness.”

And he continued: “They demand a war to the end, storming Kiev, shelling Lviv. Even the prospect of nuclear war does not frighten them. They clean the floor with their fellow putinists on live television if they hint at the fact that peace talks are a good thing.”

“It's such a disgusting uroboros,” he said, while assuring that “politics is a propaganda snake that bites its tail. Propagandists create the kind of public opinion that no longer simply allows Putin to commit war crimes, but demands them.”

And it was very forceful: “Warmongers should be treated as war criminals. From editor-in-chief to talk show hosts to news editors, this whole Thousand Hills Radio thing should be sanctioned now and tried one day.”

He also recalled that “the National Media Group, which owns most of this lying machine, certainly belongs personally to Putin, which is why it is even formally led by Putin's mistress, Alina Kabaev. The most drastic measures should be taken to hinder the work of these heirs of Goebbels. And he concluded: “The monstrous atrocities in Bucha, Irpin and other Ukrainian cities were committed not only by those who tied their hands behind the backs of peaceful people, not only by those who shot them in the back of the head.
