Chapultepec Forest: government calls for participation in the design of the Nature and Culture Pavilion

The Ministry of Culture shared the call to present an innovative idea to rehabilitate the Chapultepec Forest Botanical Garden.

Students, designers, architects, biologists, artists and ecologists can participate in the call, who will carry out the architectural proposal for the design of the space that will be called the Nature and Culture Pavilion.

The design of the project should be aimed at improving the site where the orchid is located; one of the main features to consider in the proposal is that it does not damage the botanical garden and the improvement of the building so that people who visit the place can live together in the cultural space surrounded by nature and contemporary arts.

The government of Mexico City, together with the Secretariat of the Environment (SEDEMA) and the Ministry of Culture, pointed out that the proposals must integrate nature and art, no tree should be affected as it will be the basis for the selection of the winner or winner, who will later be integrated into a team of specialists. of the Chapultepec Nature and Culture Project.

The proposals will be reviewed by the jury, which will be made up of experts, officials and professionals; on Monday, June 6, 2022, they will announce the winner.

What are the dates and how to register the proposals?

* The registration procedure is via email c_pabellon_natycul@sedema.cdmx.gob.mx.

* Those who are interested in participating can send a message for registration by Friday, April 8, 2022 until 4:00 p.m.

* When they send their proposal, they will provide them with a registration number, in addition to the bases, the supplementary documents that they must send and the site through which questions can be sent.

* The deadline for receiving questions will be next Friday, April 29, 2022 until 4:00 p.m.

* After they approve the registration, the conceptual level projects of the Nature and Culture Pavilion meet the requirements of the bases.

* The last day to send the innovative proposal will be Friday, May 20, 2022 until 4:00 p.m.

* The people of the jury will meet from Monday, May 30 to June 3, 2022 to select the winning proposal.

* The jury will inform the Head of the General Directorate of the System of Protected Natural Areas and Areas of Environmental Value of the selected proposal and will subsequently be published in the Official Gazette of Mexico City.

Gabriel Orozco, in charge of leading the implementation of the Master Plan for the Chapultepec Forest: Nature and Culture project, announced the call to participate in the National Competition for the creation of the Nature and Culture Pavilion, this with the aim of strengthening the historical museum circuit belonging to the 245 hectares that make up the first section of the forest.

At the press conference held on March 10, 2022, Gabriel Orozco, who is responsible for the implementation of the Master Plan for the Chapultepec Forest: Nature and Culture project, stressed that: “By generating the concept of pavilion, we are trying to ensure that our architectural, urban and artistic project is always integrated into the landscape with a human scale, with a feeling of interior and exterior in constant flux, thinking that the ideal forest, what actually proposes an ideal forest or an idea of bioculturality or culture and nature is very simple, are three things: shade, humidity and silence”.
