No water, no food and the chaos in Huancayo due to the violence unleashed by the stoppage of transporters and farmers

The day of protests continues in the Junín region. The protesters have demanded the presence of President Pedro Castillo while a dialogue table with social leaders is being set up.

Guardar

Due to protests in Huancayo over the shutdown of carriers and farmers, the water service drinking has been restricted throughout the city, just as there is a shortage of food on its sixth day of demonstrations that has left looting in supermarkets, shops and damage in the department of Junín.

The Sedam Huancayo company, through an urgent statement, reported last Friday that a group of protesters had taken the “Catchment 24″, located in the Chamiceria annex, blocking the entry of raw water for the purification process in two treatment plants in Vilcacoto.

Thus, today it became known that in the districts of Huancayo, Tambo and Chilca there is no water, so the company had asked citizens to take precautions to “ensure the health of people, even more so in this context of a latent pandemic”.

“Our company urges the appropriate authorities and protesters to take into account that water is a valuable and necessary resource to ensure people's health, even more so in this context of a latent pandemic,” the water company said.

Likewise, in a report from Latina, it was reported that Huancainos have not found chicken or seafood in the markets and the same would be happening with oil.

CONCERNED TRADERS

The merchants had expressed the critical situation that arises in the Junín region because the trucks that transport food were not arriving, which would generate shortages to the detriment of the entire population, something that has begun to happen this weekend.

In addition to this situation, dozens of buses and vehicles are stranded on the roads due to blockages and the indefinite stoppage that not only heavy-duty carriers but also associations of dairy farmers and farmers are complying with.

INSTALLATION OF A DIALOGUE TABLE IN HUANCAYO

A delegation of the Executive Branch, also joined by Cardinal Pedro Barreto, arrived on Saturday morning in the city of Huancayo to set up the table technical cooperation with social leaders.

The team is made up of the Ministers of Justice and Human Rights, Félix Chero; of Energy and Mines, Carlos Palacios; of Economy and Finance, Oscar Graham; of the Interior, Alfonso Chávarry; and of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Oscar Zea; as well as the Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

The delegation aims to set up a technical table to meet the social demands of transporters and farmers.

For his part, Cardinal Barreto urged the people of Huancayo to bet on dialogue, which is respectful; at the same time, he called for calm and serenity, in the face of yesterday's protests in the center of the country.
