Christian Cueva and his funny phrase to refer to the friendship with Gianluca Lapadula in the Peruvian national team

The player of the Peruvian national team, Christian Cueva, referred to the striker Gianluca Lapadula, his importance in the group and in the campaign of the Qatar 2022 Playoffs. In addition, he was encouraged to joke about the signs of affection of the player from Benevento.

Christian Cueva gave an interview to Gol Perú and was consulted on different topics of the Peruvian national team. One of them was his relationship with Gianluca Lapadula.

“In football, society between '10′ and '9′ has to go hand in hand and pair,” commented Gol Perú journalist Jorge Kieffer, waiting for Christian Cueva's response about his relationship with Gianluca Lapadula on and off the court.

“Don't say hand in hand, because if not my wife kicks me out of the house right now,” Christian Cueva replied jokingly and provoked the laughs of the sports program panel.

“It's part of football logically, always having a connection, it's what has to be with teammates inside and outside. Gianluca (Lapadula) when he came to the national team, he really came with a very positive vibe. He is a person who began to demonstrate his Peruvian roots from day one, how he felt about Peru and it infected us a lot. I have a nice friendship with him (Lapadula)”

“The guy, he also stops kissing me all day, and I tell myself what my wife will say,” Cueva added in a funny tone about Gianluca Lapadula's displays of affection. He is a very affectionate guy and the truth is that I am very happy for him, because of the moment that is happening. It came at a hard time for the national team, because we know that we have two important players (injured) and one of the best players in the history of our football as Paolo Guerrero and Jefferson Farfan”

Regarding Jefferson Farfan and Paolo Guerrero, midfielder Christian Cueva expressed his best wishes and said he is convinced that they will return to play in optimal physical condition.

“I feel that they are going to recover and they will be fine. Supporting the group from wherever they are and I would like, as I said, we are all going to go through this thing of quitting football at some point. Let them do it well and in the best way because they deserve it, as did Claudio Pizarro and many players who gave a lot to the national team. I am happy because Gianluca also has that affection and respect for these players that I mention. He is a very humble person and the truth is that he liked the group very well”, said Christian Cueva.

PERU AND GROUP D OF THE QATAR 2022 WORLD CUP

Christian Cueva responded about Group D of the Qatar 2022 World Cup that it would be up to Peru to qualify and the possible clashes for the second time against France and Denmark as they did at the 2018 World Cup Russia. The midfielder didn't consider it a rematch.

“No. For me it is an opportunity that God gives me. He didn't take it as a revenge, or perhaps he saw things like a rematch, but over time I feel that life really is about opportunities, while there is life, there are opportunities. For me it is an opportunity, but first to be in my national team and to be able to do my best, and this missing match is the most important opportunity we have and the shortest. Afterwards, God will know what the final destination is for us. I have all my faith in God that we are going to be in this world cup”, concluded Christian Cueva.
