The TV host, Gisela Valcárcel, is trending again on Twitter and this time not for to question the statements of President Pedro Castillo, but for coming out in defense of Beto Ortiz. The journalist has just received a conviction against him for the complaint filed by Pedro Castilla Torres, former Deputy Minister of Labour and Employment Promotion, for the crime of aggravated defamation.
As is recalled, the official decided to sue Humberto Martín Ortiz Pajuelo, known as Beto Ortiz, for presenting a news report on his program, in which he claimed that he was accused of being the perpetrator of the murder of his former partner Betsabeth Flores Sánchez, despite having been found innocent in two instances. In addition, to mention that the accusation was cut short by the power exercised by Castile at that time.
As a result, the former government official resigned from office just two days after being appointed, not before announcing that he would take legal action against the journalist. After the investigations, Judge Luisa Mónica Noriega Chu of the 12th Single Personal Criminal Court of the Superior Court of Justice of Lima sentenced Ortiz to one year and four months of suspended deprivation of liberty and to the payment of 50,000 soles as civil reparation.
As soon as the news became public, the América TV host came to the defense of the newsman through her official Twitter account, assuring that the sentence would be violating journalists' freedom of expression in their goal of seeking the truth.
“Ruling against @PolloFarsantePe, can fellow journalists investigate? Can you have an opinion? This is our country and we still have the right to demonstrate?” , wrote the remembered 'Señito' on her platform, generating a heated debate among Internet users; however, it was criticism of her person that prevailed in the comments.

“They can investigate, they can give their opinion, what they cannot do is defame”, “Normally defamation proceedings are seen in the judicial jurisdiction, not in the SIN room, even if it seems strange to you”, “At least have 50 cents of decency and think a little”, were some of the tweets against them, most of them referring to the images of her in a meeting with Vladimiro Montesinos.

WHAT DID HE SAY ABOUT PEDRO CASTILL
Castillo's speech on the “pitucas areas” was not liked by Gisela Valcárcel, who raised her voice of protest on Twitter. On that social network, the host dedicated a few lines to the head of state to make it clear that her message divides people, rather than unite them.
“I was born in La Victoria, in the midst of people from the mountains, people from the north and some from the jungle. My mother is Arequipa and my father is Piurano, I was raised two blocks from La Parada, and I never felt inferior,” he wrote at first.
Later, he added that his mother, being very hardworking, always told him that we should unite, that there was the force. “She always told me that we should unite, that there was the strength. You Pedro Castillo are no less than anyone else, but not more... You have come to where you are to unite us,” he wrote.
He immediately pointed out that Castillo was generating disunity among the population: “I live in San Isidro now, but, as you, I work every day and pay my taxes, you can verify this of course, and with the authority that being Peruvian gives me, I ask you not to divide us with cheap speeches, which you and least we deserve . Do you know? Peru is our country, maybe you have to walk it a little further so you will realize that any effort to unite us is worthwhile.”
