The Third Report of the Interdisciplinary Group of Independent Experts (GIEI) determined that in the case of the disappearance of the 43 student students from Ayotzinapa, the forces of the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) were involved.

This event was one of the events that marked the six-year term of former President Enrique Peña Nieto due to the alleged participation of law enforcement officers who acted in collaboration with a criminal group to carry out the forced disappearance of the students during the night of September 26 and 27, 2014.

And the third report represents not only a new version of the event, but it contradicts what was said by the then Attorney General of the Republic, Jesús Murillo Karam in stating that the students were killed and burned in the Cocula garbage dump as the “historical truth”.

For this reason, filmmaker Epigmenio Ibarra spoke about it through his official Twitter account. In a message, he accused Enrique Peña Nieto, former SEDENA Secretary Salvador Cienfuegos Zepeda, José Murillo Karam and former Secretary of Government Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong of being responsible for historical truth.

Along with the message written by the fellow journalist, he published a fragment of the video that the GIEI analyzed in which alleged soldiers were seen contaminating the crime scene where the remains of the students were found.

'JUSTICE TRUTH MEMORY The disappearance of 43 students in Iguala synthesized the breakdown of the Mexican political regime: abuse of power, narco-State, violation of rights, cover-up, extreme violence, corruption, looting, impunity, inequality. #Ayotzinapa90meses', wrote Ibarra who also made a “roll call of the names of the missing young people.

Among the main points highlighted by GIEI was the fact that the authorities were aware of the disappearance of the students due to the follow-up they gave to the group before and during their mobilization.

There were at least two operations against the normalistas of the normal Isidro Burgos and agents infiltrated the movement to give information to the authorities.

Another disturbing fact was that the group of experts had access to several SEMAR archives in which they found a video in which alleged soldiers altered the crime scene in the Cocula dump, where the “historical truth” given by the authorities occurred.

This version stated that the students were cremated in the Guerrero garbage dump and their ashes and remains were disposed of in the San Juan River. However, the video shows the alleged soldiers manipulating the scene just before Prosecutor Murillo Karam arrived at the scene to begin investigations.

Following the report, the Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team (EAAF) requested a thorough investigation into the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students.

Through a press release, the forensic team that participated in the investigations of the case questioned SEDENA's alleged performance at the crime scene of the Cocula garbage dump.

Therefore, the experts supported the request of the parents of the 43 missing students for clarification of the data provided by the GIEI and, if true, the corresponding responsibilities be terminated.
