Authorities in Morelos reported that a couple received a cumulative sentence of 100 years in prison for the crimes of qualified homicide and human trafficking, as they were found guilty of causing the death of a minor, in addition to exploiting her sister and mother.

The state judge granted maximum sentences against Dalia “N”, and Enrique “N” due to the nature of his crimes, as reported by the Attorney General of the State of Morelos (FGE):

“As for the crime of qualified homicide committed against the minor, a sentence of 70 years of imprisonment was imposed, for the offence of trafficking in persons, the maximum sentences were imposed for begging 15 years of imprisonment for women, and 15 years of imprisonment were imposed for trafficking in minors, in addition of fines and payment for reparation of damage”, was read in the unit's communiqué.

The Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Investigation and Prosecution of the Crime of Femicide managed to determine that, in 2019, the couple rented to a 23-year-old woman a room that corresponded to the residence in which they both lived, located in the Presidentes neighborhood of the Municipality of Temixco.

The woman was the mother of the child under three years of age, as well as her eight-year-old brother; both the young woman and her son “began to be victims of verbal, physical and psychological violence and were forced to work selling different items in the markets, collecting iron and aluminum, as well as asking for alms on the streets of the Center of Cuernavaca, an activity in which he was supervised by Enrique”, as reported by the prosecutor's office.

After months of violating women and minors, in November 2019 Dalia and Enrique beat the minor heavily “to stop her crying”, which caused irreversible brain damage in the infant, who was transferred to the Temixco Community Hospital, where she died from these injuries on 4th December 2019.

After being notified of what happened, the Morelos Public Prosecutor's Office activated “the corresponding protocols of care, the investigative acts were carried out and the investigation kit was prosecuted, the Specialized Public Prosecutor's Office obtained an arrest warrant against the couple, a judicial order completed by agents researchers”, reported the agency.

Both persons were arrested and subsequently prosecuted for qualified homicide against a minor and for trafficking in persons in its form of economic exploitation; charges that were upheld by the FGE and recognized by a judge, who determined the penalties against both subjects.

Relatives of a young man who disappeared last Sunday expect the State Prosecutor's Office to begin exhumation work on an abandoned property in Jojutla where several bodies are allegedly buried.

A few days ago, a policeman from Tabasco also received a sentence of 100 years in prison, in this case it was granted for the crime of express kidnapping, which occurred in January 2016 in the municipality of Huimanguillo.

The subject identified as José Alberto “N” was an active member of the Attorney General's Office (FGE) when he deprived two people of their liberty in exchange for financial remuneration, for which the agency initiated an investigation against him, which resulted in his conviction.

Despite the fact that the complaint against him was received in 2016, it was until 2019 that the prosecution began proceedings in the case, in which year the arrest warrant against him was completed. The man will also have to pay a fine of 800 days of minimum wage to the victims as reparation for the damage.
