A Coruña, 19 Mar The series “Hierro” won the 20th Mestre Mateo Awards for Galician audiovisual this Saturday by winning six awards out of the eight for which it was eligible, on a night in which the film “Three” received the award for best feature film. The second season of the thriller that deals with the investigation of a murder on the island of El Hierro - produced by Portocabo, Atlantique Productions, ARte France and Movistar + - was the most gracious in a distributed edition, in which the film “Jacinto” won four awards. “Hierro” won the Mestre Mateo for best television series; best direction for Jorge Coira; best screenplay for Pepe Coira, Fran Araújo, Araceli Gonda, Lidia Fraga and Eligio R. Montero; best editing for Jorge Coira, Gaspar Broullón and Juan Galiñanes; best original music for Elba Fernández and Xavi Font, and best production direction for Ana Miguez. In an elegant ceremony held in Expocoruña, the director of the winning series, Jorge Coira, stressed that “Hierro” contributed to “putting in place” many Galician professionals who were told that Madrid was not their place. The second most recognized production was “Jacinto”, with four of the eleven awards for which it was nominated, that of best leading actor for Pedro Brandariz -who died less than a month ago-; best art direction for Samuel Lema; makeup and hairdressing and costumes, for Lorena Calvo. Indeed, the beloved comedian Brandariz was remembered at the event with warm applause and tears due to the consternation caused by his unexpected death in the sector. The award for best feature film went to “Tres”, which also won the figure of best leading actress for Marta Nieto and best sound for Daniel Fontrodona, Oriol Tarragó, Marc Bech and Marc Orts. Organized by the Galician Audiovisual Academy, the Mestre Mateos, who have celebrated twenty years recognizing the work of professionals in the sector, held a ceremony marked by speeches with allusions to Father's Day. Alfonso Zarauza's film “Malencolia” won two awards for its supporting actors Diego Anido and Iolanda Muíños. In addition, the space “#DígochoEu” has received the award for best television program and the award for best communicator for Esther Estévez. The Fernando Rey Prize of Honour has recognized the work of filmmaker, journalist, researcher and poet Margarita Ledo for her career committed to reflection, creation, feminism and language. The best cinematography was that of Lucia C. Pan in “What did we do wrong?” and the best realization was that of Jairo Iglesias for “Origin”. The other Mestre Mateo have fallen on the Recrea Films documentary “A Virxe Roxa”; the web series of Dinamo Produciones and Javi Sega Producciones “Mataria Microserie”; the video clip of Trece Amarilo and PlayPan “Figa” (Tanxugueiras); the short film by Rebordelos “Augas Abisais”, and the announcement of Metronoventa Creatividad y Advertising Production “Networks Alive.” At the gala, enlivened by the music of the Sisters in the House Choir, the presenters Lucia Veiga, Javier Veiga and Iolanda Muiños simulated a fun dispute over who presented the Galician audiovisual gala the most times. The president of the Galician Audiovisual Academy, Álvaro Pérez Becerra, highlighted Galicia as the third autonomous community in audiovisual production and asked the sector to “take care of this heritage” with respect “so that working in Galicia is synonymous with working away from precariousness”. The surprise of the night was that the film “Brothers-in-law”, which had 16 nominations, did not win any awards. Among the attendees were Second Vice President of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, the Minister of Culture, Román Rodríguez, and the BNG's national spokesperson, Ana Pontón.
