In recent days, Jaime Rodríguez Calderón, better known as El Bronco, who was governor of the northern state of Nuevo Leon from 2015 to 2021, has been the topic of conversation. This, after his arrest on March 15, in the municipality of General Terán, where agents of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Electoral Crimes participated, who transferred him to Prison 2 North of Apodaca, where it could remain if so decided by the control judge.
The bronco is accused of diversion of public resources during his presidential campaign in 2018, whose complaint was filed by the current state governor, Samuel García, who presented evidence of the case to the relevant authorities.
Subsequently, a resolution of the Superior Chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary of the Federation (TEPJF) issued a resolution in which it confirmed that both Jaime Rodríguez Calderón and its Secretary General of Government, Manuel González, used public resources for the collection of signatures in order to compete in the 2018 presidential elections.
However, his lawyer, Víctor Olea, revealed last Wednesday in an interview with Grupo Formula's news program On the morning that the former governor has ample possibilities of taking his trial free, since the crimes of which he is accused do not see the need for preventive detention.

On Wednesday, El Bronco was linked to trial by a supervising judge. According to journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva, after seven hours of hearing the politician was linked, and minutes later, he was ratified in pre-trial detention to face his trial; this, despite to which the defense promoted an amparo.
The servant of the First District Court in criminal matters granted the former state president a provisional suspension of amparo, after the Bronco defense promoted that appeal after his arrest.
After this, several moments were recalled throughout the politician's career, such as when he made a proposal during a debate in 2018, when he aspired to the presidency of the country by independent means. In the proposal, he said that, if he became president, he would “wet” the hands of anyone who steals.
However, there were other moments that marked the campaign of the northern politician when he sought the presidency. For example, when he began his tour in Querétaro on June 16, riding his horse, named Tornado, accompanied by a hundred riders who were summoned through social networks.

“If you're up to the trunk, vote for the Bronco”, repeated on that occasion the then-licensed governor of Nuevo León, on his horse, valued at USD 250,000. It is a Dutch Frisian breed from the region of Friesland, in the Netherlands.
So, riding on his quarter-million-dollar horse, he walked through the center of that city, greeting all the people who crossed his path: merchants, housewives, children, and seniors.
“I really enjoy riding with the race, it's sharing something I like most with people who want a #MéxicoIndependiente,” he said at Santuario Santa María del Pueblito, in Querétaro.
Whenever his schedule allowed him, the former governor presumed to his thoroughbred, that in addition to a fine print, he was educated and knew how to dance. In May 2018, in pure Hollywood style, the then independent candidate for president led a parade in his first campaign event at La Joya ranch, Durango.

Rodríguez Calderón and Tornado visited the ranch that was owned by American actor John Wayne, icon of the old west, where dozens of films were filmed.
Previously, in January 2018, one of his statements caused controversy, after comparing his horse to his wife, Adalina Davalos. It was during an interview in Zacatecas, where the then-presidential candidate was asked about the money he had spent in his pre-campaign, as well as the cost of bringing his horse, to which he replied: “My horse walks with me, as my old lady walks [...] and eats less than my old lady. It's cheaper than my old lady, that's not a burdensome cost.”
