Nintendo builds on the success of “Wii Sports” and brings the concept to its Nintendo Switch console. As announced by the company in a recent presentation video, the game will be available towards the end of April. “Nintendo Switch Sports” will bring to the screen sports such as tennis, bowling, football, badminton, volleyball or chambara (a kind of sword fighting). The game is controlled with the motion-sensitive Joy-Con controllers. These can be attached to the wrists by straps, or to the leg with an elastic band, and transmit the movements themselves to the game character. “Nintendo Switch Sports” can be played locally with multiple players on the same console, or online against users from all over the world. This requires paid access to Nintendo Switch Online. Golf continues to shine by its absence, but other disciplines are not excluded for subsequent download (perhaps for a fee). Nintendo Switch Sports is the sequel to “Wii Sports”, the motion game for the Wii console released in 2006. According to Nintendo, “Wii Sports” has so far sold more than 80 million units worldwide. “Nintendo Switch Sports” has similar potential: Nintendo reports that, since 2017, about 103 million units of the Switch have been sold in its three versions. In addition to Nintendo Switch Sports, the brand announced other news, additions and updates for the Switch. “Mario Strikers Battle League” is a peculiar football game that brings Mario, his friends and his opponents together on the playing field. The figures are extensively configurable and have countless unique special abilities, with tornado and turtle shells included. The eight-player game with online mode and club league will go on sale on June 10. “Mario Kart 8 Deluxe” will receive 48 new tracks via download. The colorful kart racing game with Mario, Bowser and company will be complemented, among other things, with reworked racing tracks from previous editions. Among them are the Coconut Mall, the chocolate swamp of Mario Kart N64 or tracks in the clouds or in Paris. The first tracks of the booster pass will be available from March 28. “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” adds Nintendo's cute pink ball to the Switch in 3D. The colorful platform game features Kirby's new abilities, including attacks, item crafting and absurdly fantastic visuals. The rescue of the little creatures Waddle Dees will be available from March 25. A good five years after its release on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, “No Man's Sky” is now also coming to the Switch.
